“Making higher education more affordable for our students has always been a priority for the Association of Private Colleges (APC), and we greatly appreciate that Governor Hochul’s 2026 State of the State put a spotlight on affordability for New Yorkers. Whether enhancing childcare, fighting food insecurity, or protecting students from predatory lenders, many of the initiatives outlined in today’s address will extend relief to New Yorkers who have chosen to pursue higher education at an APC institution.

“Additionally, APC stands ready to work alongside the Governor, HESC, the Legislature and the other sectors of higher education to strengthen our workforce in high-need industries, like nursing and teaching. Our member schools are not only committed to providing quality education but also to preparing the diverse student population that attends APC institutions for a fulfilling, lifelong career."
